Adding a co-owner

The account founder can promote a teammate to co-owner — a full peer with the same access, including billing.

Updated June 27, 2026

A co-owner is a full peer of the account owner — same access as you, including billing — for a true business partner.

Only the founder can add co-owners

The founder (whoever created the account) is the only person who can promote or demote co-owners. Other Owners, Admins, and teammates won't see these controls.

Make someone a co-owner

  1. Go to Settings → Team (/settings/team).
  2. In the Access levels list, find the teammate.
  3. Click Make co-owner and confirm.

They immediately gain full owner access and a Co-owner badge.

Demote a co-owner

On the same list, click Demote co-owner next to their badge and confirm — they drop back to their previous level (Admin, Manager, or Team Member).

A co-owner is promoted from an existing teammate, so it uses the seat they already hold — it doesn't add a new seat. See Plans, tiers & seats and Team roles.
