Every loan needs the right party attached — the borrower who pays you on an asset note, or the lender you pay on a liability. You can set or change that party without recreating the loan.
From the Overview tab
Open a loan's Overview tab (/loans/{id}?tab=overview):
- The Borrowers card (asset notes) and the Lender card (liabilities) each show who's currently linked.
- Click Assign (or Change) to open a searchable picker — type a name or email to find the party, then select them.
If you don't have the party yet, the picker links straight to Add borrower / your Lenders page so you can create one and come back.
From Edit Loan
The same searchable borrower and lender pickers live inside Edit Loan, so you can correct the party at the same time you adjust other loan details. The assignment is applied through the same dedicated, audited path.
What it does
Assigning sets the loan's primary borrower or lender (replacing the current one). Co-borrowers are managed separately. Getting the borrower right keeps statements, the borrower portal, and 1098s lined up; getting the lender right keeps remittance instructions and payout tracking correct. Every change is recorded in the loan's audit log.
